11 things

That annoy the hell out of me

  1.  how months will pass by before I hear from friends, and then only if I give up and initiate the text or phonecall.
  2.  people who think they know everything yet their lives are worse than yours.
  3.  how months will pass by before I hear from friends, and then only if I give up and initiate the text or phonecall.
  4.  people who know that I am looking for employment and will like my posts in LinkedIn regarding my search, instead of taking an interest and helping me out.
  5.  how months will pass by before I hear from friends, and then only if I give up and initiate the text or phonecall.
  6.  being on the outside looking in.
  7.  being the only black person I see, unless I go to the barber shop or church.
  8.  how months will pass by before I hear from friends, and then only if I give up and initiate the text or phonecall.
  9.  that I can go to bed at 10 am, and barely close my eyes and the alarm clock will inform me it's 5 am
  10.  that people that claim to love me have a strange way of showing it,
  11. and last but not least, - my facebook post yesterday...So, I'm waiting for my interview. I got my suit on. I'm looking real professional. There are three while blonde males seated about 5 seats away from me. None are wearing suits and not even a tie. The secretary phones the person with whom I am to meet. About 3 minutes later a woman exits an office, glances in my direction but walks past me, and with her back to me, extends her hand to the first guy, says, Mr. Casey? He says no. ( I can hear the whole thing) . She goes to each of the 3 guys and they all say no. The secretary tells her ' he's over there," pointing at me. I'm good at noticing micro expressions. That second-long look of disappointment was replaced by a polite smile, and I suddenly knew the interview would be cut short.
The one-hour interview lasted about 11 minutes.

Jody Watley - Strange Way

The elephant in the room

My mother and I are speaking again. I'm glad. The issues-the secret she's keeping from me still exist, but I love her. I feel relieved that our conversations are pleasant and she's happy to hear from me, but there's that proverbial elephant in the room that rears it's ugly head from time to time. I don't say anything because we're on good terms but I find it puzzling that it doesn't even seem to be on her mind.
She was telling me yesterday about how she thinks her no-good ex-husband stole her birth certificate, and how she needs to make a call tomorrow to get a legal copy of her birth certificate. She went on and on about how she can't find her birth certificate anywhere and that she had it  and all her important papers hidden from him and all the papers are now missing.   All I could think about was how my birth certificate is sealed by the State of New York along with my birth and adoption records and that she knows who my birthparents are, but for some strange reason she won't tell me anything. And I was angry, to be honest, but I pretended I wasn't.

with Open Arms

Don't get me wrong, I am a true fan of love, but currently love is the last thing on my mind. I can't afford it. I can barely afford my self.

But,

With my luck, it will find me when I not looking for it.

And since I know and believe in God, and if it came from Him,

I will make myself ready, and will welcome it with open arms.

Message

A wealthy man walked into a bar in Miami. As soon as he entered, he noticed an African woman (black), sitting in one corner.
He walked over to the counter, removed his wallet and shouted, "Bartender! I am buying drinks for everyone in this bar, except that black woman over there!"
The bartender collected the money and began serving free drinks to everyone in the bar, except the African woman. Instead of becoming upset, the black woman simply looked up at the guy and shouted, "Thank you!"
This infuriated the wealthy guy. So once again, he took out his wallet and shouted, "Waiter! This time I am buying bottles of wine and additional food for everyone in this bar, except for that African sitting in the corner over there!" The bartender collected the money from the man and began serving free food and wine to everyone in the bar except the African. When the waiter finished serving the food and drinks, the African woman simply smiled at the man and said, Thank you!" That made him furious. So he leaned over the counter and asked the bartender, "What is wrong with that black woman? I have bought food and drinks for everyone in this bar except for her, and instead of becoming angry, she just sits there, smiles at me and shouts 'Thank you.' Is she mad?" The bartender smiled at the wealthy man and said, "No, she is not mad. She is the OWNER of this establishment."
May our enemies work unknowingly in our favor.......

When someone shows you who they really are, believe them.

-- Maya Angelou

I love that quote so much that I have to repeat it:

When someone SHOWS you who they really are, believe them.
