People/things that made me smile this week

1.  The first Clinton-Drumpf  ( the correct spelling of Donald's real last name) debate was televised this week, and Hillary wiped the floor with him.
He was concerned with the coughing jags that Hillary Clinton tends to have when speaking because she has acid reflux, but she didn't cough one time during the entire 90 minute debate. She was calm, and professional and prepared,  but Donald Drumpf was a sniffling jackass during the entire debate. He was even asked if he had a cold afterwards, and he said no.  The pics in the cybersphere were funny as hell. People were reading Drumpf for filth, and I enjoyed every second of it!

2.  After finding out his teenage sister had been killed in a car accident over the weekend, Mark Ross said he wanted to be with his mother as soon as he could.
Without a vehicle, Ross said that he convinced someone he knew to drive, and jumped in the man's car just after 3 a.m. Sunday in Indiana. Ross wrote in a Facebook post that they were speeding through Ohio, bound for Detroit, when the lights flashed behind them.
"I knew I was going to jail due to a petty warrant," Ross wrote on Facebook.

Ross was in the passenger seat of the car when Trooper J. Davis pulled them over, and the driver had a suspended license and an outstanding warrant as well, according to Inside Edition.
Trooper Davis ended up taking the driver into custody and having the car towed, which left Ross stranded in Ohio.
Ross explained what happened next when Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant David Robison arrived:
"I broke down crying and he saw the sincerity in my cry. He REACHES OVER AND BEGAN PRAYING OVER ME AND MY FAMILY. He offered to bring me 100 miles further to Detroit because they towed the vehicle. Everybody knows how much I dislike Cops but I am truly Greatful for this Guy. He gave me hope."
True to his word, Robison drove Ross more than 100 miles to a Detroit coffee shop where he could meet his cousin.

3.  Officer James Poole thought he was doing an on-camera interview about his role with the Columbus Police Department when he was surprised by a man whose life he saved 19 years ago. Chris Jones, now 24-years-old, burst into tears seeing the man who saved him from drowning in a hotel pool when he was just 5. The grateful man said that he was underwater for a longtime when he was rescued back in 1997.

4.  Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams announced earlier this month that his nonprofit organization, The DeAngelo Williams Foundation, will cover the cost of 53 mammograms at hospitals located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh.

Willliams is a staunch supporter of breast cancer awareness. In 2014, Williams’ mother, Sandra Hill, died after battling breast cancer. She was just 53 years old. He also lost his four aunts to the disease, but not before leading a push in 2009 to allow NFL players to wear pink cleats throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness month.

5.  Janet Jackson really is pregnant!  And all this time I thought she was renting a uterus for nine months!
6.  A Canadian Immigration attorney called me today regarding an email I sent the Government of Canada a couple weeks ago regarding steps to take to be legally authorized to work in Canada. They scheduled a phone consultation this following Monday!

7. Solange Dropped her new CD  A Seat At The Table. It's Fiyah ( as the kids say)!

Busta Rhymes Ft. Mary J. Blidge Theres Only one

Busta Rhymes - Your Loss ft. Mary J. Blige

Busta Rhymes feat. Kelis - What It Is (Right Now) VIDEO

its hard to wait around for something you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you want.

Things that made me smile this week

  •  A friend saw my Facebook page for my business A Cake Supreme, and he placed an order!  :)
  •  Amir, a friend I met in Paris, who lives in Saudi Arabia calls more regularly then friends who live in the same city, and he called this week. His wife is pregnant and they want to name him Alieux!
  • A neighbor won the annual baking contest at her job with a pineapple upside down cake that I made for her, and she gave me half the winnings    :)
  • The new NBC show with an ensemble cast called This Is Us. In the premiere on Wednesday, there was this couple due to have triplets. They had a boy and a girl, and the other boy died. They were happy for the ones that survived but distraught because of the one that died. He said his mother made baby clothes for all three babies. While the father was looking at his babies in the delivery room, there was a man chatting it up with him. The father asked which baby was his. He said he didn't have a baby. He's a firefighter, and someone left a black baby at the fire station, and he dropped it off at the hospital. The baby was in the crib next to the twins. Next scene, the couple was at home, with their twins, and the black baby. They were wearing little onesies, #1, #2, and #3.  Yes, I teared up. It made me smile. I know it's just a tv show, but if this happened in real life, I would say that God has His reasons for everything which can sometimes be mysterious to us, and that the couple might give  their new boy the love his parents obviously couldn't provide. There were other great storylines in the show but I felt that one, in my heart. I often wonder who nice it would be to have been loved by my adoptive parents.  I look forward to future episodes.
  • Kevin Hart's new movie has Halle Berry in it! I can only tolerate Kevin Hart in small doses, so I'll wait until it's on Netflix or the Urban Movie Network so that I can fast forward past his scenes

  • And, after posting this blog today, I received a request to make 50 mini cupcakes for a kid's 3yr birthday tomorrow. That really made me smile!  I'll take pics tomorrow.

I had a dream

I had a series of strange dreams 2 mornings ago.

In the disturbing one, I was running down the street. Ahead of me the sun was shining so brightly I couldn't see ahead of me, then suddenly I saw angry growling pitbulls running towards me and I ran in the opposite direction, but I noticed I had one leg- my right leg, so I had problems running, but I managed to escape. Then I fell in a pile of shoes. I looked around and I was in the Nike Store in downtown portland. Then next scene, I was in the kitchen frying something, I couldn't tell if it was chicken or jumbo shrimp. There was also what I think were scallops that were in a bowl of what I think is butter. I didn't think the meal was ready but my mother thought it was ready, and her personality is easily volatile I pretended to agree the meal was ready, then my mother suddenly said Cheryl has AIDS. I began to cry, and I thought "I heard that before but I refuse to believe it."

Then I woke up. I considered telling my sister about it but I decided not to. I don't want to upset her. I don't know what it means. My sister has been in a monogamous marriage for about 15 years. It was so strange. I don't know what to do with that dream.

Black while reading; things to consider when coming to America

Yesterday I learned that being black while reading a book in a car can cause cops to want to murder you.

Here's the list of 10 things we can do to avoid being murdered by cops:

  1. Nothing
  2. Nothing
  3. Nothing
  4. Nothing
  5. Nothing
  6. Nothing
  7. Nothing
  8. Nothing
  9. Nothing
  10. Already be dead

Let me tell you about the time:

A friend said I should start a baking business because my cakes and cupcakes are delicious and I told her it is a business and I gave her a business card and a few weeks later she invited me to a party and asked me to make about 18 of my pear and fireball cinnamon whiskey mini bundts and my famous avocado chocolate chip cake and I told her that will be 55 dollars and she said that all my desserts that I've brought to work  have been free and I told her acakesupreme is a business and the ingredients are not free and neither is my time, and she said never mind and both she and her husband unfriended me on Facebook and blocked me.

Mary J Blige - Good Woman Down

Think about it

The only time I have ever seen an African King and Queen on tv not portrayed by white people was when Michael Jackson cast Eddie Murphy and the model Iman in those respective roles for his 1992 video for the song Remember The Time.

Oh, and also when James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair played an African King and Queen in the Eddie Murphy movie Coming To America, 4 years earlier.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Prince's First Music Teacher: 'He Was at the Band Room Door at 8 a.m. Sharp Every Day Waiting to Be Let In'

Jimmy Hamilton, who was Prince's teacher in his seventh and eighth grade business of music and music theory classes at Minneapolis' Bryant Junior High, said that Prince wasn't the best student in his class, but he was the hungriest. "He was at the band room door at 8 a.m. sharp every day waiting to get let in," recalls Hamilton. "After, I would go in and break up the session and make the kids go to biology class."
He wasn't the best student in his class, but he was the hungriest. Keep that in mind.

Sometimes I don't recognize myself. I alternate between between loving myself, liking myself, accepting my gray hair, dyeing it black, smiling at what I see in the mirror, sometimes cringing at what I see and not giving a f**k. Today I like what I see.
Tomorrow? Who knows.

Guess Who I Saw Today-Chante Moore

Guess Who I Saw Today-Nancy Wilson

One of my morning prayers

             Dear Lord,

You know what I'm up against today. I'll just let You handle it. Thank you.

I wish love, life, and friendship came with instructions. I'm good at following instructions.

Narada Michael Walden

His Timing is Perfect

Everytime I apply for a job and am able to get an interview, I don't necessarily pray for it. I pray that God's will be done, even if it's a job that I really want, and if I get rejected, I will be sad, but only for a few seconds.

I begin to smile, telling God, "I don't want anything that You don't want me to have. I know you have something different or better for me. Your timing is perfect, so I will wait. Thank You."

I Won't Forget This Day, from 15 years ago.

I had a moment of silence when I got up this morning, for those lost by the devastation of the attacks and those  deeply affected by the attacks.
I will never forget.

Giving honor to those lost in the attacks. Mothers. Fathers. Grandparents. Aunts. Uncles. Sisters. Brothers. Children. Friends. Firemen. Policemen. First Responders. Black. White. Asian. Indian. Arab. Persian. All American. All for one.

In due time

Be ( basement elevation)

It takes courage to leave someone who is not treating you the way you like to be treated. It also takes self esteem, a believe that you deserve better.

Don't be afraid to walk away from that person. They may try to control, you, manipulate you into believing that you can't do better than them, but they're wrong.  You deserve to be with someone that you can't wait to come home to after a long day at work, not someone you dread seeing at the end of  your day.

I didn't know until years after the fact, but my sister's first husband convinced her that no one would want her so she might as well stay. My mother had to convince her that she deserved better.

You deserve better.

A question for which I already know the answer.

Isn't it odd that people will ask other people not on facebook about what's going on in your life when they are facebook friends with you and if it's something that they need to know about you, then they can ask you directly?

Back in the day, pt1

Back in the 70s, when the kids in church, and even the Pastors' kids were spending their Saturday's doing what kids do, my mother forced my sister and me to help raise money to line the Pastors' pockets by either having car washes or selling tacos or fried chicken dinners. There was a rumour in our school that we were doing car washes to help pay our rent. My mother didn't care. She was concerned with raising the most money for the church (the pastor's pockets).
