T B T The Jacksons - Show You The Way To Go [Audio HQ] HD

What Would You Rather Be Doing Right Now?

  • I'd rather be making love to my wife ( if I had one)
  • Rubbing her aching feet while she tells me about her day.
  • Hearing our daughter laugh and giggle.
  • Playing basketball or catch with my son.
  • Watching the sun rise.
  • In the kitchen cooking or baking.
  • Fellowshipping with family and friends while they ate what I've prepared for them.
  • Getting drawings that my Goddaughter sends me in the mail.

Wow- it just occurred to me what really makes me happy.  Nothing material. Nothing out of the ordinary. The simple things. To be honest, I'm surprised that nothing Paris-related was on the list.

What would you rather be doing right now, right this minute?

Black Math

Georgia Anne Muldrow
"-- used to run from it
when I was a young one
now I run to it
‘cause it told me where I come from.
Quite simply, it’s the best thing that anybody able to grasp
Black math consumed my past shifting me from spites’ wrath..."

A quote to get your week off to a good, positive start

Life is way too short to be at war with yourself.
--author unknown

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. I know I can be. For example, I'll see a single attractive woman on the train on my way to or from work or downtown somewhere, and I will automatically convince myself of failure. As a result, if I'm not with friends who will push me, I won't even make an attempt (sometimes I will, just not all the time).  And then I'll be angry with myself afterwards for not trying.
So, I'm going to make a promise right now, right this minute, to approach the next attractive woman I see. The worse thing she could say is no, right?

Have a blessed week!

The Weight of What Remains

We go wrong when we search for healing from the places that caused our wounds.

In the past 72 hours

Red Velvet macarons with Portwine Creme Filling

  •     There was a need for someone to do the job from which I got promoted, and I was told to do it but was told I would keep my title and my pay, so all is good.
  •      I got a market adjustment raise!
  •      I got to celebrate the life of a friend's mom, which made me worry  about how I would celebrate my mom's life, when the time comes.
  •      I baked 5 cakes.
  •      I began working out with heavier weights
  •      I made 2 dozen red velvet macarons.
  •      I started to think about the Masters degree I'd like to have: one that relates to my job and career  (A Masters in Public Health Administration), or one that pertains to my passion (Architecture, Culinary Arts, or Writing).

My Facebook Post from Today

I went to a Celebration of Life Service for a friends' mom this evening. Everyone had all these wonderful, funny stories to tell about her: the type of stories that make you wish you knew her. I hope that when I die, similar stories can be told about me, and that people would wish they knew me.

A quote to start your week off on a positive note

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say "I used everything you gave me. "

-Erma Bombeck

Are you applying your full potential?

I will admit to not appying my full potential; for example, I know I would lose the weight I need to lose if I worked out harder, if I did more resistant cardio, and if I consistently ate better. I'm keeping it real. Hopefully, tomorrow is the day I do what I need to do to start losing weight.

How about you?

Hope you have a great week, and that you use everything that God gave you!

Corinne Bailey Rae - I'd Do It All Again Lyrics

I remember weeping when I first heard this song when it fist came out. It was some woman who broke my heart.

Then I heard this song.

It doesn't make me sad anymore.

I love Corinne Bailey Rae and this song.

I'm searching for something I know will make me happy...

Quote to start your week off on a positive note.

It's difficult to pursue a dream. It’s a tragedy not to.

I love to write, but I also love to cook and bake. I can't imagine not doing either, and I found a way to write and bake at the same time.  After I prepare my cake batter and pour it in my cake (or cupcake) pans and put it in the preheated oven, I set my alarm for 37 minutes, and I spend the next 37 minutes working on a short story or composing or editing poetry, writing until I hear Prince's song If I Was Your Girlfriend, which I have as my timer alarm.
Once or twice a week, I will bake cakes, cupcakes, pies, and cookies, etc., to either bring to work or give to neighbors. I write, and cook and bake for the same reason that I breathe; because I have to. While working, ideas for short stories pop in my head and I can't wait until lunch time so that I can make notes to help me remember to write it up later, while baking.

On a side note- whoever I  date or marry, she will never have to cook again for the rest of her life if she didn't want to.

What is it that you would do, even if you didn't get paid for it?

To avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, be nothing.

10 random things about me

II'm a Christian.

I'm ambidextrous.

I haven't drank chocolate milk in 41 years.

I believe I was Muslim in a past life.

I have an obsession with Iranian culture.

As a kid I often had nightmares that I would go to hell because we weren't Seventh Day Andentists. Or Muslim.

My sister and I often wondered if I was the product of my Grandfather and one of many women he dated.

I am a terrible judge of character.

I used to think I was ee cummings' reincarnation since I was conceived a month after he died.

I know I would be more successful if I wasn't so scared.

3 things

In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.

--meanwhile on the train,

This woman asked me:
"Is it okay to want to feel special, to not want to feel like you're an afterthought- if they even think of you at all?"

Story of my life.

I told her I didn't know because I need to ask that question myself.
I decided it was important to never allow someone to treat me like an afterthought, and to distance myself from people that make me feel that way.

First name Alex, last name George

That, and I have a biological sibling older than me, gender unknown.

That's all I know about me. My mother will not tell me how she came to attain me ( and changed the spelling of my name to Alieux).

For $1,500 this was all my private investigator discovered, since my birth records are sealed by the State Of New York.

I wonder why they're sealed. Were my parents rich and powerful?  Did I come from royalty?

A Quote to get your day started

Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.

I have a few work-related rituals that I do first thing in the morning before I even get my cup of coffee. I check for emergency emails, and I check my calendar so I can prepare for any last minute meetings that were scheduled.  I like when my boss asks about a project and I'm able to tell him it's done or that I've already implemented a plan to get it done,
And every evening I do what I truly hate doing. I go to the gym and workout and do cardio. This is necessary since I need to lose weight,
Do you have any daily disciplines?

That awkward moment

When this woman at work offered encouragement regarding my baking business this afternoon  and I informed her that  after I gave her my business card and left her desk this morning,  I returned to ask her something and I watched her crumble the business card and throw it in the trash.

She said "no I didn't,"

And I reached inside her garbage can and showed her the crumbled card.

Father Patrick Malone

Yesterday while on the treadmill I decided to look up old friends on Facebook. A few I found, and I sent them friend invites. One good friend, Patrick, didn't have an account, so I googled him.

I discovered he had died a year earlier after a very long battle with leukemia.

I remember when he was diagnosed. He was planning on joining a monastery when he received the news. This was about 20 years ago. We lost track of each other, and I hadn't heard from him in about 15 years. Anyway, when I read about him and the things he continued to do for the homeless and the hungry in Minneapolis, I had to get off the treadmill, go to the bathroom, and cry for about 5 minutes before returning to the treadmill.

My heart feels heavy right now.

Quote of the day

Expect problems and eat them for breakfast.

Alfred A. Montapert

Good morning!

When I saw this quote, the first thought that popped in my head was that of expecting drama, and instead of avoiding it, dealing with it head on, and basically going on with the rest of your day.

I need to do this. I procrastinate alot.

Hope you have a great day today!

I'm coming for you again,
next year!
get ready!

Today I've been at my job for 8 years.

And I've baked a cake.

Filled with Raspberry puree, whole Blueberries, and Champagne.

My coworker, boss, and sales staff loved it.
